Interior of the Notre-Dame Basilica

The Basilica of Notre Dame in Montréal is a world-renowned church in which the construction began in 1829. This neo-gothic structure overlooks the Place d’Armes. The interior is breath taking with the ceiling being one of the main attractions which is decorated in deep blue with gold stars. The sanctuary itself is decorated in polychrome of blues, azures, reds, purples, silver, and gold. All over the interior of the sanctuary are hundreds of complex wooden carvings. Instead of religious scenes, the stained glass windows that decorate the length of the walls portray the religious history of Montréal.
