The Parc National d’Aiguebell is located in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec about 50 kilometres (31 miles) southeast of Val-d’Or. The region of Abitibi-Témiscamingue became part of the province in 1898, with Aiguebelle being a special protected park within the region. One can view markings and traces left by glaciers, lava flows and old rocks left over the past 2.7 billion years. The park was created in 1985, with its boundaries revised in 1998, now covers an area of around 270 square kilometres (104 square miles).
