The majority of the province of Prince Edward Island is dominated by agriculture, resulting from the ease of farming in the distinctive red sedimentary soil throughout the island. The roads, beaches, dunes and sandstone cliffs are made of up this reddish sand, due to the high amount of iron oxide in the rock that forms the island’s base.
