Screaming Tunnel

If you light a wooden match while standing in the middle of this old rail tunnel, you’ll hear a scream and your match will suddenly blow out. The legend of ‘Screaming Tunnel’ began over a century ago when a deadly inferno raged through a farmhouse located on the south side of the tunnel. On that night, the silence was torn by the screams of a young girl engulfed in flames. She fled to the tunnel in attempt to extinguish her clothing, but collapsed to the floor in its depths. If you dare, the tunnel can be explored at the dead end of Warner Road in St. Catharines.
