Pearl Lake in Winter

Schumacher, just east of Timmins, is know for the beautiful Pearl Lake, which was named after M. Pearl Hartt, the wife of pioneer sheep rancher, John Kelly Hartt. The Pearl State Park includes camping, boating, fishing and picnicking. There are 36 campsites amongs the forest of fir, spruce and pine. The 167-acre lake permits boating. During winter, due to snowfall, the roads and facilities are closed, though the park remains open for foot and snowmobile access. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing are popular winter activities.
