Kugluktuk, formerly known as Coppermine, is situated at the exit of the Coppermine River into the Coronation Gulf. Kugluktuk is the furthest west settlement of Nunavut and has a population of around 1300. The community is only accessible via air or water transport. During the short summer the sun never sets and the locals experience 24 hour daylight. Nearby is the infamous Bloody Falls where a group of Dene warriors massacred a group of Inuit who were camping at the falls.
