A Polar Desert

Arctic Bay is an Inuit settlement located in the northern part of the Borden Peninsula in Nunavut, Canada. Arctic Bay, also refered to by the Inuit name “Ikpiarjuk” which translates as “the pocket” in English due to the high hills that surround the almost landlocked bay. The annual snowfall in Arctic Bay is about 72 centimetres (28 inches) and the annual rainfall is about 5 centimetres (2 inches). While you would expect somewhere as far north as Arctic Bay would be bombarded with blizzards throughout the year, the northern part of Baffin Island where Arctic Bay is located, is actually classified as a Polar Desert.
