The Ship Hector is one of the central points for the festival of Nova Scotia’s living history. Visitors will learn why Pictou is known as the Birthplace of New Scotland, they can participate in demonstrations on board the Ship Hector, meet re-enactors, enjoy Scottish music, and culture, and much more. The popular “Great Big Sing” held at the Pictou United Church starting at 8:00pm celebrates Pictou’s Scottish heritage with a special concert of hymns, music, and Scottish Airs. A delight for audiences, the annual performance is the closing celebration of New Scotland Days.
