The Pictou Lobster Carnival, which has been celebrated every summer since 1934, is held in early July. The event features live family entertainment, beer garden, parades, pipe bands, 10 kilometre (6 mile) road race, lobster dinners, Ship Hector tours, pageant, lobster boat races midway & much more. In mid-August, the annual Hector Festival depicts the landing of the Hector and features Scottish music, dance, crafts and food.
