Peggy’s Cove is approximately 43 kilometres (27 miles) southwest of the city of Halifax and comprises one of the numerous small fishing communities located around the perimeter of the Chebucto Peninsula. Lobster fishing is the commercial and recreational harvesting of marine lobsters or spiny lobsters. A fisher with one boat could set, pull, and reset over 100 traps a day, making trapping a much more efficient than diving. With the use of many traps, a fisher could collect anywhere from 100 to 1000 lobsters.
