The Lighthouse in Winter

While Peggy’s Cove is an extremely popular summer destination for visitors, it is beautiful, though somewhat dangerous to explore, in the wintertime. The white with red trim lighthouse sits out on a granite outcrop at Peggys Point, which, in the winter, is usually covered with ice and snow making the trek up to the lighthouse a slippery and hazardous one. The village of Peggy’s Cove is usually quiet in the winter, as there are few tourists around. In addition, the winter is not the optimal time of year for fishing, particularly lobster, which is how the majority of the locals make their living.
Because the winters can be so harsh in comparison to the loveliness of the summer months, it’s a prefect time to snuggle up indoors, make hot chocolate, read a book, watch DVDs or play party poker games and eat locally-prepared snacks. It can be extremely enjoyable place to visit in the winter if you are well-prepared and well-stocked. It is a magical experience watching the snow fall outside, covering the beautiful, rugged landscape.
