Pilote Point, which overlooks Yellowknife Bay just north of Yellowknife, is a popular location for tourists to not only view the city and bay by day, but also a reowned location to photograph the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). The bay is an integral part of the northern transportation system, as float planes fly in and out during the summer months when Great Slave Lake isn’t frozon over.
