White-Tailed Ptarmigan
The White-tailed Ptarmigan is a common year-round resident in the Canadian northwest, especially in the arctic or tundra areas. The winter adult is completely white though they show some brown on their tail and wings in the summer months. The White-tailed Ptarmigan can be told from the other ptarmigan species by its white, not black, tail and are common in and around the Inuvik area.
