Port of North Head

35 kilometres (22 miles) off the coast of New Brunswick, in the Bay of Fundy, is the Island of Grand Manan. Grand Manan Island is accessible via a daily ferry departing from Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick, to North Head, Grand Manan, with the exception of December 25 and January 1 when there are no ferry crossings. Driven by the famous giant tides of the Bay of Fundy, the water around Grand Manan is nurturing, yet aggressive. The rich waters are home to a copious assortment of marine life that has kept island fisheries prosperous for generations. Beneath the surface lie many a testament of the ocean’s unforgiving side. Over 300 vessels have been wrecked around the island over the past two centuries.
