Construction of Canada Place

The construction of Canada Place began in 1983 and was the host of the Canada Pavilion at Expo 86. It became the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre in 1987. You can visualize the growth of Vancouver from this Canada Place, where the first explorers landed to the building of the sawmills, to the ships that crossed the ocean to trade goods, to the immigrants that made this area home, to the first railway, and the beginning of exports through the shipping yards. Today, it is one of the largest tourist attractions that offers a unique look into the past of Vancouver.
