Skeena River and Mountains

The Skeena River is the second longest river that is all Canadian and located in British Columbia. The origination of the Skeena River is in the Skeena Mountains and from there this amazingly dark, rushing river runs 560+ kilometres (350 miles) long. The British Columbia town of Terrace is located on the Skeena River in the Skeena River valley. The city was founded in 1901 as a telegraph station and its location on the river made it a perfect stopping point for sternwheelers in the following years. Today Terrace has grown and is now the gateway of the north and the heart of northwestern British Columbia.
