The High Level Bridge is the highest and longest steel railway bridge in the world. Near Lethbridge, Alberta, the High Level Bridge stretches over Oldman River in the river valley at a height of almost 96 metres (314 feet) and a length of 1.6 kilometres (just under 1 mile). Beginning in August of 1908, the bridge was completed June 22, 1909 and officially opened on November 1, 1909, costing $1,334,525.00 CDN to build.
