Hoodoo Rocks

Hoodoo Rocks
Hoodoo rocks, and other such interesting geological formations, are common in the Badlands of Alberta. Hoodoos generally form where there is a hard top rock which helps to shelter the softer rocks beneath it. As the softer rocks surrounding the protected rock and clay erode away, a pillar called a hoodoo is formed. The clay-rich soil then takes unique shapes, such as these hoodoo rocks, formed over time by the wind and water.
