Banff in the Mountains
The town of Banff, about 140 kilometres west of Calgary and about 58 kilometres east of Lake Louise, is the largest town in Banff National Park. It’s probably best known for the beautiful mountainous surroundings and hot springs, in addition to great skiing in the winter. One of the featured architectual structures in Banff is the Banff Springs Hotel, originally built by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1880 as a destination for tourists, it remains one of the premiere tourist destinations in Canada today.
