Calgary, the 3rd largest city in Canada (by population), with over 1 million residents, is located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta. Calgary is famous for both the annual Calgary Stampede, a large rodeo & fair held every year in July, as well as being the host city of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games. The major driving economic force in Calgary is the oil industry, with Calgary only second to Toronto for its concentration of corporate head offices.
